John Franklin “Frank” Ferre, 85, passed away on July 2, 2017 in Redlands, CA. Frank was born March 30, 1932 in San Bernardino, CA to John and Maxine Ferre. He was married to his wife of 55 years, Maryetta, and lived in Grand Terrace, CA
Frank graduated from San Bernardino High School in 1950 and San Bernardino Valley College in 1952. He served in the Army during the Korean War and then graduated from the University of Redlands with a degree in economics in 1958. Frank spent his 40-year career as a CPA with Eadie & Payne in San Bernardino and Redlands, and was a partner for 30 of those years.
Frank served on the Colton Planning Commission, Colton School Board, Grand Terrace Chamber of Commerce Board, University of Redlands Town & Gown, Riverside Highland Water Company Board, and Valley College Foundation Board. He was a long time member of the Colton Kiwanis Club where he served as president and was most recently a member of the Grand Terrace Lions. One of his most cherished activities was running the scorer’s table with lifelong friends at Grand Terrace Sharks swim meets in the 1970’s.
Frank was a tireless volunteer at the Colton Methodist Church. He would later share his time between the Methodist churches attended by his children and grandchildren in Redlands and Riverside.
Frank and Maryetta enjoyed many trips to the Hunewill Ranch in Bridgeport, CA where they rode horses. He enjoyed riding through wide-open meadows and talking with his wrangler buddies who called him “Cowboy Frank.”
Frank is survived by his wife Maryetta of Grand Terrace; son Jeff Ferre of Riverside and daughter Julie Shuler of Redlands; daughter-in-law Pamela Ferre; son-in-law Tor Shuler; grandchildren Griffin Ferre, Kendall Ferre; Jace Shuler, and Craig Shuler; and brother Malcolm of San Miguel, Mexico.
